April was an unusual one. Having missed some panels due to unforeseen circumstances, we turned to the past, specifically at our time at BBC Introducing Live back in October. The speakers, that included some of the most exciting names in music at the moment, made us remember that socials don't have to be boring or daunting, they can be (and definitely should be) an exciting extension of your artistic world. We also explored the events side of things at the Roundhouse's Self Made Live series, were panelists didn't hold back on how demanding these roles can be.
Every month, countless industry panels and talks happen that most artists never see. You don’t have to be everywhere at once, we do the listening and bring the highlights to you. Here’s what stood out in April 2026.

Since its inception, BBC Introducing has championed unsigned British musicians through the BBC Introducing Uploader, with 23 local radio shows and six national shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, and 6 Music. In October 2025, Introducing LIVE hosted a special takeover event in London at BBC Maida Vale Studios designed to support and inspire the next generation of musicians and music industry professionals.
Building a following Panel: Connection & community are more important than ever – this panel looks at how artists can build real music communities by staying authentic, engaging fans and creating spaces that bring people together. Hosted by BBC Introducing’s Shakk Hashemi, with insight from alt pop bedroom producer & artist Ellie Dixon, producer, singer- song-writer, and Tik Tok sensation Michael Aldag and Yazz James, the creative force behind social campaigns for the likes of JADE, Oliva Dean and Wolf Alice.
Ask us Anything Panel: Hosted by BBC Introducing Rock’s Alyx Holcombe, featuring Radio 1’s Jess Iszatt, BBC Introducing Editor Kelly Betts and London singer songwriter Nectar Woode.
Our notes

Our two cents
- Social media is evolving. Fatigue, overwhelm are all real things, while cohesive and immersive worlds resonate the most meaningfully with music lovers. The strategy? Think: now that I’ve heard it, now I need to see it.
- Exposure and consistency matters above all else. Post it, let it be what it will be, and keep it pushing.
- With visuals mattering so much, we think artists should take it more seriously. Get connected with emerging graphic designers, photographers and collaborate to build something you’re truly proud of.

Self Made Live presented by TALLAWAH Agency: Inside the Events Industry
The events industry is one of the most high-stakes, high-velocity environments in the world. It’s where big ideas meet brutal logistics – and we’re ready to have a conversation about it.
TALLAWAH curated a lineup of industry titans who have built their careers from the ground up:
– @benryanldn – The visionary behind @citysplashfest
– @antheatheehudson – Leading the legacy at @nhcarnivalldn Carnival
– @ayosartofgiving – The force behind @ourppls & @blackatglasto_
– @the.ftsuperhero – Founder of @tnoa.mgmt
@janaymariexo, founder of @tallawah.agency sat down with these 4 major players to explore the raw realities of the industry – covering the challenges, what they’ve learnt across their career and the creative paths that make global moments possible.

Our notes

Our two cents
- These panelists reached their positions through hugely different ways, the only thing that was consistent was a drive to try new things and take risks. Whether it meant jumping from a major label role to a more niche lane (like becoming a reggae promoter) launching fashion shows at uni, or putting on art exhibitions in their own council flats, they took the initiative.
- If you’re the creative force behind an event and not so much the finance guy, find partners to fill in the gaps. It’s a business first – safety, cashflow are not to be underestimated.
- Industry figures are going to respond differently to you reaching out. Some may appreciate linkedin, and some might be too overwhelmed and prefer to hear about you from a close confidant. Keep that in mind and work to your own strengths.
That’s all for now. We’re still working on how to make this format the most comprehensible so – please bare with us!
